Nikolay Panayotov

"The figurative line is simply not enough for me, just as the abstract line is not enough for me, so sometimes I mix them or move them in parallel."

After 1990, he settled in Paris, where the French Ministry of Culture provided him with a studio. He has numerous realizations in public spaces, the most significant of which are 200 sq.m. of mosaics (1988) and a theater curtain in the House of Culture in Sevlievo. He has held a series of painting exhibitions in galleries in Paris, Belgium and Luxembourg, Germany and the USA, the National Gallery and the Gallery of Foreign Art in Sofia. He is the creator of the scenography and costumes for Wagner's cycle "The Ring of the Nibelung" for the Sofia Opera. The production is currently touring in Germany and critics there describe it as "sensational" and "Wagner's most beautiful Ring". In recent years, he has been working and living between his studio in Paris and the White School in the village of Stokite, Bulgaria.
